Hello,
I am looking to connect with Kelly's/McMasters in the Drummaul Parish area. I undertook a Y DNA test that has directed my family tree research to East Ulster and South West Scotland. I am part of the South West Scotland R-S660 Grouping. My DNA connection to this part of Ulster has been higlighted by my shared DNA with a man called Terry McMaster who visited with us from the USA recently. His people left East Ulster in 1720 for Palmer Mass., Any advice or local history would be appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Our Co. Antrim expert is away for a couple weeks. Drummaul is one of his lead parishes. I will leave him an e-mail with your message for his return.

Kellyea,
I am the local parish rep for Drummaul. I live very nearby. I don’t know any Kelly or McMaster families locally but the name is found in the area. However both are common names across Northern Ireland.
The UK postal area that covers Drummaul is BT41. (It covers a bit more than just that parish but it’s a way of narrowing down people in the general area). The centre of the parish is the town of Randalstown, 5 miles west of Antrim town.
Searching the current phone book, I found 29 Kelly & 6 McMaster households in the area. (Many people are ex-directory these days so there are likely to be more). You could try contacting them to see if their families originate in the area, and if so, whether they’d agree to a DNA test. (Not all will be willing).
You can look them up on:
Good luck.
