My great grandmother was Anne Strahan Alexander [1867-1916] of Lisbreen Farm, which I understand is somewhere on Killygore Road, Rathkenny. Her parents were James Alexander [c.1818-1902] and Sarah Jane Crawford [1828-1912] who came from Ballycraigagh and bought Lisbreen Farm when they married.
Sarah Jane's parents were Robert [Robin] Crawford [1791-1874] and Anne Strahan [1786-1848] also of Ballycraigagh.
I have a photograph of Lisbreen Cottage where my grandmother was born and would be very grateful if anyone can help me pinpoint the farm and cottage on the map.
Happy to hear from anyone researching these lines!

Hi,
Thank you for your message and for sharing this information on the Ireland Reaching Out message board. I hope that someone else researching these lines makes a connection with you!
With regards to pinpointing Lisbreen Cottage, it may be an idea to also post this message in a more local forum in the hope that someone in the area will see it and be able to help you. Some possible places you may be able to do this are:
Northern Ireland Gen Web, Co. Antrim: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nirantri/
Ireland Genealogy Projects, Co. Antrim: http://www.igp-web.com/antrim/index.htm
Roots Chat: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?board=51.0
I hope that this suggestion is helpful and that you are able to find the cottage.
Kind regards,

Griffiths Valuation shows James Alexander having 3 acres of land in Lisbreen (plot 1) but no house. He acquired it in 1878. However his main residence appears to have been nearby on plot 6 in Martinstown where he resided until 1908 when it passed to Robert. That was a farm, outbuildings and c 49 acres. The family are at that address in the 1901 census.

You can locate both properties using Griffiths valuation maps. The on-line ones for both townlands don?t show the plot numbers but they hold paper versions in Ballymena library (local studies section) that do. That would enable you to pinpoint both.
