Jane Ann (Boyd) Best had a farm at Seacash. She was on the tax roll and no husband was named. Am looking for her husband. Don't know first name. They had a dau. born 1839 in Rostrevor and I have the parish as Culbrim but do not find that parish. I think it has to be Down. Any help would be appreciated. Ruth

Hi Ruth,
Thank you for your message.
Rosstrevor (note spelling) is a town in the parish of Kilbroney, Co. Down. Do you know their daughter?s name? If you do, you may be able to find her baptismal record in the parish records there. This will list both parents? names. You could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance, as most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Kilbroney parish, follow this link:
Culbrim, is a townland in Ballymoney parish, Co. Antrim. If you would like to see what records are available there follow this link:
If the family followed Church of Ireland, you can find information on their registers at http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
You could also try searching for records at https://familysearch.org/ This is a huge genealogical database compiled by the Church of the Latter Day Saints and it includes pre-1871 marriage records for Ireland.
