I am looking to connect with any descendents of George Lamont and Catherine Murphy including those of George and Martha Lamont of Racavan Parish, Broughshane, Antrim who appear on the 19011 census with three children: Frank Lamont age 12, Katherine Lamont age 9, and Martha Lamont age 5.
I believe that George Lamont was the youngest son in the family of George Lamont and Catherine Murphy who married in 1850 and had eight children: Daniel (b. 1851 Knockboy), William (b. 1856 Knockboy), Agnes (b. circa 1857), Margaret (b 1859 Knockboys), Kate, Elizabeth (b. 1866, Knockboy), George (b. 1872 Broughshane), and Mary.
Thank you.

I noted this probate abstract:
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of George Lamont late of Broughshane County Antrim Farmer who died 5 March 1895 at same place were granted at Belfast to Mary Anne Lamont of Broughshane the Widow.
And this:
Lamont James of 93 Broughshane Street Ballymena county Antrim carpenter died 7 September 1950 Administration Belfast 27 October to James Lamont clerk. Effects £1015 4s. 4d.
The first file is destroyed. The second should be in PRONI in paper format.
I see a likely additional child to George Lamont & Martha Graham, namely Agnes born 10.8.1911, regd Ballymena, accrding to the GRONI indexes.
I see 1 Lamont in the current phone book for Broughshane. I can’t give you the details on this post for privacy reasons but you should be able to find it easily enough in the on-line phone book.
It's a common enough surname so there might not be any connection but always worth trying.

Hi Elwyn, Thank you once again for your help with the Lamont family. I already had the 1895 administration record but all the other suggestions were new and very helpful leads. Agnes is a recurrent name in the family. I will follow up.
With appreciation, Sandra

An Agnes Lilley (nee Lamont), daughter of a George Lamont, Broughshane, died at Darlinghurst, Sydney Australia on 30th November 1933. A death notice mentions her sisters, Lizzie and Mary. Based on other research in respect of her husband, I believe it likely she was the Agnes born c1857.

Many thanks, Scotmum. That is definitely my great great aunt. I have her death certificate but have not seen the notice. Did you find it in the Australian Trove?
With appreciation for this tip,
Sandra

As far as I recall, I didn't check Trove, so there might be a more local notice there. The one I have mentioned was in the Ballymena Observer of December 8th, 1933, which can be viewed online, either with a subscription or purchase of credits, via FindMyPast or British Newspaper Archive.
I will look through my manual records, as I'm sure I have some other snippets of research on her and her husband too.

Thank you again, Scotmum
I would welcome any additional information you come across and will try to find a way to access the item in the Ballymena Observer on line. It is exciting to learn that someone would a have placed a death notice in the Ballymena Observer 52 years after Agnes left Ireland for Australia. By any chance are you related to the Lamont family, yourself or have ties to Broughshane/Racavan?

Belated reply.
No known direct links to Lamont, but do have numerous ancestors from the Parishes of Skerry and Racavan. Here are some further 'snippets' of info (my formatting is playing up in the browser, so can't display more neatly, but anyhow, here goes):
The Balymena Observer of 21st January 1882 had a marriage announcement that said:
LILLEY-LAMONT November 23rd, by special license, at Sydney, New South Wales, by the Rev. Mr M'Cready, Presbyterian Minister, Mr Alexander Lilley, to Agnes Lamont, both formerly of Broughshane, County Antrim.
I believe the couple had at least the following children: Andrew Lilley b Cobar District 1883 Alexander L. Lilley b Redfern District 1885 I further believe: Alexander senior died Cobar District in 1886; Agnes died Sydney in 1933 In addition: Andrew Lilley died Sydney in 1920 Alexander L Lilley married an Evelyn M Phillips in Sydney district in 1935; Alexander then died @ Masonic Hospital, Ashfield on 30/12/1955 (home address 5 Wallesley Street, Summer Hill, near Sydney). Evelyn possibly died in 1976.
