I'm looking for any information regarding the Beatty/Beattie families in and around Armargh who have links with John Beattie(born circa 1790) who Married Elizabeth Holmes who are believed to have been farmers in Clonfeacle at the time of the migration of their son Hugh Beattie (trade carpenter) to Australia in 1841 with wife Mary(nee Rolston, dairy maid).
John and Elizabeth's children are thought to be;
- Alexander who married a cousin Eliza Beatty?
- James who married Mary Marshall
- Isabel who married Matthew D-evelyn (Develin)
- Hugh who married Mary Rolston (migrated to Australia Left 1841 arrived in Australia Feb 1842) Hugh was born circa 1817, Mary was born 1820
Another researcher believes that John Beattie's father may have been also called Hugh.
I understand that the name Beatty/Beattie etc. is commom around this area but I'm hoping the spouse names of the children might be a clue.
My line of the Beattie family were devout Wesleyan Methodists.
