McKell family in Portadown

James McKell (1775-1835) married Margaret Jones (1774-1858) and lived in Portadown.  They had at least seven children: Thomas McKell (1805-1887), William (1809-1882), Anne Jane McKell (abt 1821-1900), Eliza(beth?) McKell (abt 1821-abt 1899), Samuel McKell ( ? - aft 1846), and two unknown daughters born around 1820. 

Thomas married Sarah Corrigan (1818-1885) and they remained in Ireland and raised a family with 5 sons and 3 daughters.  I have the names and other details for those who might wish to inquire.  One of their sons, James (1844-1910) married Minnie Plewman (1853-1878).

William left Ireland for America "with an uncle" in about 1830, going first to Pittsburgh and then by 1840 moving to Chillicothe, Ohio.  He married a local girl, Phebe Scott Cook (1813-1901) and became a prosperous businesman.  They had a family with 6 sons and 7 daughters.  I am descended from this line and have many details.

Anne Jane apparently remained in Ireland and never married.

Eliza married Andrew Spence (abt 1814-1899) in Ireland;  they had five children before they imigrated to America in 1848, where they joined William McKell in Chillicothe for a time, produced three more children, and then eventually made their way to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Samuel McKell apparently remained in Ireland.  I do not know the name of his wife, but they had at least three children whose names I know.

There are stone markers, presumably for grave sites, for both James and Margaret in the church cemetery alongside the Church of Ireland building in Moy (County Tyrone).  Moy is a short distance from Portadown.
