I know that Owen McAlinden & Sarah Donnelly were married at St. Jarlath's RC Church in Blackwatertown in February 1845, their first child born & baptized that smae year, same parish.  I found a baprismal record for Sarah Donnelly in Clonfeacle Parish in 1818, but no parents were listed.  Need to locate her parents.  I know she had at least 4 sisters, one named Jane Donnelly and another named Anne Donnelly, who married John McCaragher/Caragher.   Owen Linden & Sarah Donnelly Linden, along with Jane Donnelly & Anne and John McCaragher all came to the US in the mid-1840's (1843 to 1846) and all lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.  If there are any Donnelly or Linden/McAlinden family members who can help, I would appreciate it.  I have never been able to find the parents of Sarah Donnelly or Owen McAlinden/Linden.  Thank you.

  • Hello Cynthia - I cannot be of any real assistance to you, but thought I'd let you know that my great-great-grandfather was John Donnelly who, according to our family legend, came from the townland of Cloven Eden in the Parish of Loughgall circa 1820 to settle in the townland of Greaghnadarragh near Bailieborough in County Cavan. If you are interested - and have the time to spare - there is a little more info on my website at http://www.donnellycanada.com/families/names/114-donnelly-families.html

I was born in the townland of Greaghnadarragh a long time ago, and there are no Donnellys remaining in that townland. Good luck with your research. Phiip (Phil) Donnelly.
