Trying for some time now to find info on my great great granfather myles kelly
.things i do know are as follows---born 1808 and died 25 august 1898.his brother was the rev.patrick canon kelly of keady and derrynoose born 1806 and died 13 april 1891. in a local publication their parents are shown as john kelly from truagh in co monaghan and mary cassidy,but could be cassley/ cassily from listrakelt
.There are loads of kellys around as we know but smallon is a rare name,i thought maybe a mis spelling but on parochial/church records of baptisms the name smallon is used quite a lot with the kelly children who were
catherine dob 27/12/1851 mary 15/5/1853 patrick 17/3/1855 john 16/11/1856. my grandfather thomas 31/10/1858 james 18/9/1860 and michael 01/03/1863
no record of marriage but presumably before dec/ 1851..
any info would be much appreciated

Have you looked for the family in Griffith?s Valuation? This was a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland between 1848 and 1863. You can search it here:

There is also an earlier records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at:

You could also try looking in civil records for information on the family. Civil registration did not begin in Ireland until 1864, so you won?t find anything prior to this. However, you may be able to find marriage records for their children. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
