My great-grandparents John Rafferty (of Clea) and Rose Ann Connolly married in Keady in 1891. My grandmother, Mary Catherine, was born in 1892 and her sister, Alice, was born in 1895. John apparently died between 1895-1898, because Rose Ann remarried in 1898 to John Heaney. I have not been able to find a death record for John Rafferty. I hired a professional genealogist in Belfast to check records at PRONI, but she was unsuccessful. I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Hi Susan
The only Armagh death/burial record of John Rafferty 1895 + - 5 years on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site) is this one:
It has very scant information and Drumcree is a few parishes away but anything's possible?!
I assume you've seen this from the 1901 Irish Census (free online)
Residents of house 4 in Tievenamara Derrynoose Armagh
Connolly Michael 63 Male Head of Family Roman Catholic
Connolly Alice 70 Female Wife Roman Catholic
Connolly Patrick 40 Male Son Roman Catholic
Connolly Mary 20 Female Daughter Roman Catholic
Rafferty Mary Catherine 7 Female Grand Daughter Roman Catholic
Rafferty Alice 5 Female Grand Daughter Roman Catholic
Kelly John 18 Male Visitor Roman Catholic
O'Neill Lizzie 25 Female Visitor Roman Catholic
Alice and Mary are with the grandparents but no sign of Rose Ann; you might want to have a search on the 1901 & 11 censuses

Susan:
I looked at the civil death index records and found this death registered in the last quarter of 1895 in the Armagh registration district. Keady parish is in the Armagh registration district (along with sixteen other parishes). You can get a copy of this record online at the GRONI site for two pounds. Here is the link to the site. This may not be your John but the data fits your facts.

Thanks so much to you both, Col and Roger. I am determined to find out what happened to John Rafferty as his death is the impetus that led to my grandmother's emigration to the US.
