Hello. I have traced my Rafferty Loughgall roots back to my great grandfather Bernard Rafferty (born July 16, 1842) and then to Peter Rafferty, born in Loughgall about 1809. He died in 1889. He married Margaret McCusker in 1834. So far, I have not been able to locate any birth records for any other children of Peter and Margaret. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who may have information to add. While it is probably not very realistic to hope to discover records relating to the parents of Peter Rafferty and Margaret McCusker (who would likely have been born in th 1780's), there is always an outside chance.

This is the second message for Loughall parish in the last 24 hours.
RC baptismal records for Loughall start in 1835 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0227 I went on Roots Ireland and found records for three older siblings to Bernard: Sara 1835 Owen 1836 Anne Jane October 6,1839. You can look on the register for the exact dates for Sara and Owen.
The records for the parents if they were baptized in Loughall would not be available.

Thanks so much Roger. I am making great progress with the Rafferty line. A member on another site (Wikitree) has actually tracked down the parents of Peter Rafferty (spelled Raverty in the records) - James Raverty and Mary Donnelly. From those, she has also discovered a number of siblings of Peter Raverty. The parish listed for those church baptism records is Armagh, rather than Loughgall, as they are all prior to 1835, as you pointed out. I am now awash in information and will have to take some time to organize it. Once again, thank you. If you would like me to pass along any of this new information, I will be pleased to do so. No need to pass on the new infomation on your family. Great to hear that you are making progress.
You may want to cosnider autosomal DNA testing. You might find leads from your matches which will help with not ony the Rafferty line but also your maternal line.
