Looking for info about family of Connor Daly of Tynan Parish in Armagh. He was born in1813 in Co. Armagh and married Eleanor Mary Carlow born 1807. The marriage took place on Oct. 26, 1834 in Tynan Parish. They had four children born in Tynan: Catherine, James A., Mary and Elizabeth. Catherine was born Nov. 1, 1835, James on July 31, 1840, Mary on Oct. 12, 1841, and Elizabeth April 19, 1845. There is a Catholic Church Baptism record for Mary showing Polnagh as her Townland.

Relatives have indicated that Connor’s father was James Daly and went by Jimmy, but no records have been found about him or his wife. Connor was supposedly an only child. A genealogist at the Epic Center located a James Daly living nearby in Derryhaw Townland on land parcels 26 A, B, C. Land use showed flax mill, land and house. Landlord was William Armstrong, and info was from Griffith’s Land doc with a date of 1864.

Connor came to the US in 1848, and we have quite a bit of info on him, and the rest of the family going forward from there, but nothing about his time in Ireland other than his marriage and the birth records shown above.

  • Thank you for responding so fast to my post. I have a cousin who had done an extensive genealogy search that was all on Ancestry.com, and the copy of Connor and Eleanor’s marriage cert. was part of what he had encountered. However, this is the first time I’ve seen a death cert. for a James Daly (Dailey).

Unfortunately, I can’t read the writing. Was he 58 yrs old? Where do you see that Eliza was a daughter. If he was 58 in 1873 that would mean he was born around 1815. Since Connor was born in 1813 this James couldn’t be his father. Maybe a cousin or some relative. Any additional help would be appreciated.
