Searching for George Penman born around 1789 in Ireland, possibly Carlow area, emigrating to Wigan, Lancashire, England between 1810 and 1815. He married an "Elizabeth" in Ireland and raised Thomas, John, George, Mary and Elizabeth in Wigan before dying in 1867.

There is a George Penman-Abbeyleix Co Laois on the 1901-1911 census, with wife-Elizabeth,
so could be some relation.

Thanks for the tip, Jack. Unfortunately, my George Penman left Ireland and settled in Wigan, England around 1814-1816. I have no way of tying him to Ireland except the 1841 English census.
I think he and Elizabeth married in Ireland and then emigrated to England for work. He was a weaver.

Hi Donna
It’s a while since you posted this but I believe George Penman is my 4 times great grandfather. I unfortunately have no information about him but would be keen to connect if your research had uncovered anything interesting.
