Looking for any information on Robert Beatty born 1817 and James Beatty born 1833 and died 1901.  I am not sure if they are related but they both migrated to Canada Robert in 1891 and James's family in the erarly 1900s.  Any help would be appreciated.

No luck with James in 1833 or in Monaghan but there are lots from 1831, 34 & 35 from other counties.

  • Hi Col,

Thanks for the info, which has allowed me to track his marriages. The date for James's birthday was a guess basd on his age ina  census record which are not always accurate.  The link of Robert to James Beatty was beacuse they all migrated to Canada with childen of James staying with Robert.

    Thanks again

  • Hi Terry,  I think that there may be some info about this Beatty family in my tree on Ancestry "From Monaghan to Manitoba: Two Beatty Families"  https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/tree/171505827  If you don't have a subscription to Ancestry, I can give you guest access to the tree if you like - or send you a copy in gedcom format.

I have to point out that I can find no documentation to prove a link between my Beatty family (who emigrated from the Parish of Ematris in County Monaghan ca 1832, first to Quebec and then on to Toronto, Ontario and ultimately Huron County) and your Beattties - but Ancestry indicates that a cousin and I share DNA with descendants of the Beatties who emigrated to Manitoba.  Also sharing DNA with them are descendants of Monaghan Beatties who settled in the Argenteuil region of Quebec in the early 19th century - and I also share DNA with these folk.

All very much a puzzle and a work in progress.

    Best wishes,

    Mary

  • Hi Terry - I'm happy that you've found the data on my tree.  If it's of interest, the data about my own Beatty family can be found at https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/33148282/person/1839…; Not very much, I'm afraid, about what they did in Ireland.

    All the best,

    Mary
