My ggrandparents farmed in Mullaghoran in the latter part of the 19th century.   I'm looking for  any of their descendants that may still live n Ireland.

I would love to meet my Irish cousins.

  • Hi Mellis - I am an officer in the New York County Cavan Association. Some of our current members are from Mullahoran. Until recently, there was a separate Mullahoran Social Club here in New York City. Do you have any names or townlands for your Mullahoran kin? I will then show my fellow members. We have our annual Ball on Saturday March 23rd in Astoria, New York City, in case you live nearby. Let me know. Regards, Mike McGovern.

  • Hi Mike,

My Dalton relatives were from Cartronfree, Mullahoran. They were Christopher Dalton and Catherine Gilligan Dalton. Their daughter, my grandmother Brigid Dalton, emigrated from there in 1906 to NYC.

I wasn't even aware that there was a Mullahoran Social Club in NYC. I'd be most appreciative if you could locate anyone with knowledge of the Daltons, I do plan to make a trip to Cavan someday soon and do more research on the Daltons. So far, I've been unable to locate any Dalton relatives in Cavan.

I'm also looking for my Grandpa's relatives in Westmeath near Fore and Castlepollard. Grandpa's name was Thomas Gibbons.

I'm in Rhode Island so probably won't get to the Ball, though it does sound like fun.

    Thanks for your help, Mike.

    Best regards,

    Melissa
