Hi,

My husband and I are traveling to Ireland in March 2014 and we would like to find out more about his Irish hertiage.  His Great, great grandmother was born in Glangelvin, Cavan on June 3, 1867 and her parent's names were Peter McGovern and Nellie Tammy McGuire.  I believe this information is correct but it was taken from another family tree, so it could be wrong.  Any other information you could give us, would be wonderful.

Thanks, Danica and Richard Walter

I went to www.familysearch.org and it appears that the wife of Peter McGovern was Mary McGuire. Of course, her nickname could have been Nellie. I found baptismal index records for two siblings: Hugh and Bridget (see below). I was unable to locate a civil birth index record for Anne in 1867. I also could not find the family in the 1901 census.

  • Thank you.  I will research those names a bit further.  I knew her father's name was Peter McGuire but the info I had, the dates were not accurate.  It stated he was born after his daughter was born.  Did you find a birth year for Peter McGuire?

    Thanks, Danica

No, I did not find a birth year for Peter. Civil registration of births started in 1864 so only a church record would be potentially available.
