I am trying to find my Irish Ancestors and learn more about them.  If you could assist me I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is what I know of them in Ireland.

Mary Anderson, b. abt 1840, Ireland; d. 31 May 1916, Greene county, New York.
she married on 23 Mar 1865 in Killeshandra, Cavan, Ireland to:

Alexander Widdis, b. May 1838, Ireland; d. 10 Apr 1915, Greene county, New York.
Alexander Widdis’s father was Samuel Widdis  (I found a Samuel Widdis b. 1805 and died 1877 in Cavan, Ireland that might be his father.)
Alexander Widdis and Mary his wife immigrated in 1865 to the US.

Mary Anderson’s father was John Anderson (Ireland) and she had a sister, Catherine A. Anderson, b. Jun 1850, Ireland; d. Jun 1935, Ulster county, New York. Catherine immigrated to the US around 1868.
she married John J. Warrington, b. May 1845, Ireland; d. 6 Sep 1911, Kingston, Ulster, New York.

  • The Griffiths Valuation survey was conducted in 1856-1857 in Co. Cavan. I looked at Killeshandra parish records and found a record for a John Anderson in Corhanagh townland. Possibly this is the father of Mary Anderson. I did not locate a record for a Samuel Widdis.

  • Hi if I can be of any help let me know - My Anderson family connection lived at Corhanagh, Arva, Cavan up until recently it was my grandmothers home place and her father was John Noble Anderson.  If this is the same connection let me know.

    Unfortunately I do not know much about the family while in Ireland.  I would like to know more about your John Noble Anderson and see if he is connected.
