I have been researching my ancestors since 1971. My mother's paternal ancestors came from Knockbride. My great-great grandfather was William Corbett b. Knockbride, County Cavan, 1807. I have been unable to trace his parents or ancestors. William served with the British army ibetween 1824-1858 (1824-1831 in Ireland, 1831-1839 in the Bermuda and Jamaica, 1840-1858 in various parts of Eastern Canada, retiring when in Bytown, now Ottawa). He married in 1828 in Ireland, a woman by the name of Agnes Ann Braun. I believe she was a Huegennot. She was born (place unknown) in 1807.
William Corbett listed himself as a weaver in his enlistment papers. He enlisted at Cootehill.
Any assistance in this research would be greatly appreciated.
