I believe we may be related through Owen, if he is a son of John Thomas Clarke. I believe John Thomas Clarke may be my Great Grandfather. John G. Clarke (changed to Clark in the US), was my Grandfather. Born March 1870. He immigrated in 1888, & married Caroline Alice Lewis January 7, 1896.

Hi Roger....I would like to ask for help because I am at a dead end searching for my Grandfather's ancestors. His name was John Clarke born March 1870, in County Cavan Ireland. Not sure if it may be in Larah or Bailieborough. All I know from my father, is that his father John Clarke came from County Cavan. I think his middle initial was G., and he immigrated from Ireland in 1888. He dropped the final "e" in his name after he came to the states. Some records list him as being born in 1871, however, on the 1900 U.S. Census, he lists himself as being born March 1870. He married Caroline Alice Lewis on January 7, 1896. He may have been Naturalized that same year. They had 11 children. Personal Family tree records state that 2 brothers in Ireland did not immigrate, & had 4 sisters, Kate, Bessie, Mary and Margaret. Mary paid for his immigration, & family stories say he came to the USA as an indentured servant. He may have had more siblings born after he immigrated, but I'm not sure...Mother of Sorrows Church, in Greece, N.Y. records his death as 1947, but Caroline lists herself as widowed on the 1940 Census. I realize many records were lost during the time period of when he was born and his early childhood. One brother may be named Owen. I hope someone in Cavan can help me. I would greatly appreciate any help Roger. Sincerely, Karen
