Hello Ann, you could try writing to the parish church of the particular religion to see if they had a record or if the burial, you do not mention denomination of the grandparents, also there was probably a death notice in local or national papers at the time giving details, local paper was the Anglo Celt and the usual national paper the Irish Independent, there is a subscription site Irish Newspaper Archive. You should also try the Cavan library as I find library can be very helpful, see http://www.cavanlibrary.ie/Default.aspx?StructureID_str=17 

As no one from Cavan has picked up your query here there are two private Facebook pages on Cavan Genealogy, one of that name and one IGP's Cavan Genealogy and you might find some one living there, or check if there is an actual Lavey page.
