A dear soul found some information on my George Terry from Co Cavan which is as follows:

George Terry Dundavan Co Cavan trying to recover a debt in 1859, Violetta was a witness. In the same session Violetta who was assaulted in Ballyjamesduff was taking a case. (she did not win, case dismissed). Dundavan is near Granard ib Co Longford

Are there anyway to retrieve these court records?

It is mentioned Geo was a police officer in 1837 Virginia, Lurgan parish, Co Cavan.

Aug 5, 1855 his dau, Eliz, married Dan RAWLINS a mariner in Middlesex, ENG.  Eliz mentions her father is a police inspector.

October 11, 1855 Geo applied for a Beer & Spirits license.

16 Oct 1865 his dau, Eliz, married Robert PROCTOR a constable in Kingston Upon Hull, York, ENG and migrated to the USA.  Eliz mentions her father is deceased.

George and Violetta had other children born in Virginia, Lurgan parish, Co Cavan baptized: Thomas TERRY 28 Jul 1839, Violetta Jane TERRY 01 Sep 1840, Samuel TERRY 09 Jan 1842, Rebecca TERRY 03 Aug 1845, Alexander Bernard TERRY 25 Oct 1846, Celia Francis TERRY 01 Sep 1848 and Sarah Victoria TERRY 04 Jul 1850.

We only know Violetta is from Scotland according to Eliz death certificate.

Since Geo was trying to recover a debt in 1859 near Granard, Co Longford I am hoping this is where the family landed after Co Cavan.

  • Hi Charlene

I had a look on findmypastireland and there are 8 listings of George terry - 1 is from Griffiths Valuation but the other 7 are fromm court petty session registers (could be the same one repeated)

You need to purchase credit to view the records on that site.
