My great grandfather John IRVINE was born about 1823 in Ireland. His parents were William IRVINE and Margaret MOFFATT. Their marriage is recorded in the Magheraculmoney Church records, St Mary's Church, Ardess as follows:  11 May 1821 William IRVINE, Parish of Magheracross and Margaret MOFFATT, Parish of Derryvullan Married by Licence. Minister Wm Atthill.  Magheracross Church Records record a baptism 3 July 1826 of William son of William Irvine and Margaret of Cavan. Other children are recorded in Enniskillen Methodists records of baptisms as the children of William and Margaret Irvine of Cavan.  Their baptisms are as follows:  Robert 1827, Catherine 1829, Margaret 1835, Mary 1840 and Rebecca 1842.  Rebecca emigrated to Victoria Australia in 1865 with John and his family. He also had a brother Christopher who emigrated to Australia, lived in New South Wales and retired to Hamilton, Victoria. His brother Robert emigrated to Victoria. John Irvine was a musketry instructor with the Imperial Army, married Phoebe Tucker of Kent and emigrated to Victoria Australia in 1865.
