Looking to find information about Ferris (or Fergus) Moriarty. Only information we have is that he was born in 1820 in County Cavan. Possibly married Mary Hogan in 1837. Both resided in USA by 1860 census. Her parents might have been John and Julia Hogan.

  • Hi Mary, did they get married in Co Cavan, do you have the marriage cert?

If you are unable to decipher it, if you can scan it, I will have  a look at it & see what the townlands are.

  • Hi Mary,

You could look for the details on Familysearch.org, while civil registration, did not start until 1864, some of the church records may be there.  Copies can be ordered from them.

Cavan Co Library also have records & can do searches for you.  When you get the copies of the certs, do scan them & I can help you with reading them & identifying townlands etc.  Prove your way back for yourself & get copies of certs in USA to satisfy yourself that the info you have is correct.

You could also try contacting the Cavan Co Library for further assistance.
