I am connected to some Stuarts/Stewarts, a Frances Stewart who married Edward de Courcy in 1854 in Drumshanbo. Her father was Edward and in 1854 she listed her residence as Mahanagh townland ... not sure if it's Sligo or Cavan. Their son Edward Steward de Courcy emigrated to America.

My earliest known Morrow ancestor was James Morrow of Garteneane who was probably born around 1795 and had at least two sons (John James Morrow probably born around 1823 and Joseph born around 1824) and a daughter Mary Anne born around 1826). The farm is now in the middle of a windfarm. John James married Caroline Stewart in September 1847. Caroline Stewart was the daughter of Thomas Stewart of Killyclear (Drumgoon). He moved to Nolagh (the new farm was probably only about 200 yards away). Joseph Morrow married Mary Anne McQuade in 1849. Mary Ann Morrow married married James Dugeon (of Glasgow) in March 1849.

Hi Peter, were the Morrow's Presbyterian? I see Morrow's listed in Glasleck (Shercock) Presbyterian Church. The Orr's attended that same church. It is situated outside Shercock on the road to Bailieborough, it closed in November 1998. There is no Morrow headstone in that graveyard but that doesn't mean none are buried there. I did know one person by the name of Morrow now deceased, he attended Bailieborough Church of Ireland (Anglican). There are currently no Morrow's that I am aware of living in the Bailieborough/Shercock area of County Cavan. There were lots of Stewarts in this area and some still remain, they are Presbyterian. Les. The Morrows were Presbyterian (although John James was married in the COI Bailieborough church). Certain Morrows were supposedly buried in the Glasleck Church (Joseph Morrow, John Morrow, Stewart Morrow) however I would need to check a video taken when my family visited the area in the 1990s to see what was said by my now deceased father when he visited the church. Thomas Stewart married Agnes Wiggins whose mother was probably an Irwin. Im believe they too went to this church. Thanks for all your help. Peter

Just curious gentlemen, does the names William James MORROW (1789-1888) and Annie Wallace come into the Morrow's of Cavan Co anywhere that you can see. That part of the Morrow family was connected to my Barber line, which I have had nothing but problems location in Ireland. I thought they may be connected via Cavan, but can't be sure.

Paul, The names are not familiar but that does not mean that they are not distant cousins. One thing you may consider (it really helped me put together many more parts of the jigsaw) was DNA testing. That allowed me to track down many distant branches in North America and also Australia and New Zealand. As well as the wider family style DNA testing, I also had my Y line DNA tested (as in my father's father's father's father's father's ................). If you can get a male from the Morrow side of your family to test you can find out which of the ancient Morrow lines it came from. My haplotype is I-BY175129 (see FamilytreeDNA.com kit number 353347). This has put me in contact with many others of my ancient Morrow line. This testing supports the hypothesis that my branch of the Morrows came from Scotland in the early 1600s. Peter
