Trying to locate my great granfather's family that may still be in Ireland. My great grandfather was Joseph Murray, he arrived in New York in 1895. He left behind a sister that he wrote to - Christina Murray (b.1/1/1864). Christina married Nicholas Farrell and they had four children. He also left behind a brother John.

Last address I have for Christina is Drummond Longwood Co Meath

  • After some research I found that Christina Murray's husband name was James Farrell - census shows them in Co Meath, letter has Drummond Longwood

  • Hi, Amy,

I'm looking into this at the moment. I found several records for Christina and James and their children. I  also note that you have information on Ancestry which correlates to the same records I have found.

According to the 1911 census, the family were living at House Number 2, Drummond, County meath.....   http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Meath/Killyon/Drummond…

As Drummond was mostly farmland and not a main street, where House Number 2 is exactly, is anyones guess. Again going by the census, there were only two houses at the time...

Nowadays, however, the landscape is FAR different. Although, still mainly farmland, there are a great deal more properties there now. So trying to find the correct one will be difficult.

Drummond is not too far from me though, so I will print off the census returns as well as the other records and when I get time, I will go for a treasure hunt to see if I can locate the correct family.

The local church is the Church of the Assumption, Killyon, so I will first start with having a chat with the parish priest there to see if i can get any leads and I will get back to you with any info.

      Regards,
