Hello,

I'm tryiing to pinpoint where my Baxter family came from.  I believe from County Cavan, Templeport.

I'm looking for information on a Bernard Baxter who passed away on 15 January 1951 and is interned at Kilnavart.

I believe Bernard Baxter's father, Bernard Baxter and mother Nora Devine are my Great-Great-Grandparents.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • David,

Thank you for the information.  I too found this information out while searching the internet.

I'm trying to make a connection with any Baxter in Templeport, Cavan to see if my assumption is correct.

I believe James Baxter you listed is my Great Grandfather.  Bernard would be his brother and Bernard and Nora would be their parents.

    Thanks again for your response.

    Stephen

  • For Newspaper archives you could try http://www.irishnewsarchive.com,  & focus on The Anglo-Celt, it is a subscription site & if you narrow down your searches to the time plus 2 month, you may find something.

Look for societies, either political, sporting or religious as sometimes they have meetings & at the meetings they would pass motions expressing sympathy to the family of the Deceased and hopefully they would name the family of the deceased.

Obituaries were not written for all deceased persons.

Best of luck in your searches & do let me know how you got on..
