I am the Great Great Granddaughter of Denis Rowan and have drawn a blank when searching for his history.
The details I do have are he was born in Claire around 1790 and died in Scariff County Claire in 1850. His death certificate shows he was a police magistrate.
He was married to Margaret McMaster and fathered ?7 children, one being my great grandfather who emigrated to Australia.
His name was also Denis and in turn so was my grandfather's name.
I would like to move along with this history, mainly where and when he and Margaret were married and who his parents were.
Even a photo of their graves would be welcome.
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Unfortunately, the RC baptismal records for Ennis parish start in 1841 and marriages in 1837. I presume that your great-grandfather who emigrated was born before 1841. Are you aware of any siblings born 1841 or later? You mentioned a death certificate in 1850 for the oldes Denis. Civil registration of deaths started in 1864 so you likely have a church record. Can you share a copy of the record. Scariff is a good distance to the northeast of Ennis.

The death certificate I have is for my great grandfather who passed away in Australia. The details on this list his father, my great great grandfather as being a PoliceMagistrate. He was married to Margaret McMaster. From what I have found he never left Ireland and from there I have drawn a blank. So if any one can help me with these scant details I would be grateful...Pat

I note that the death record for your great-grandfather shows Margaret McMaster as his wife and also the name of his mother. Not sure which is correct.
I looked at the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Drumcliff civil parish (which includes Ennis) and there is one Rowen record, one Rowland records and a number of Roughan records. I was looking for relatives who were still in the parish.http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/clare/drumcliff.htm

Roger I noted that as well, Margaret McMaster was his mother, his wife was Margaret Pearson. Too many Margarets. I have uploaded an account of my great Grandmother Margaret Pearson's funeral carried out in her home town of Casino New South Wales. Pat
