My great grandmother Margaret Quinn was born in about 1838/40, probably in Ennis but it may have been Newmarket. Her parents were Peter and Joanna Quinn. She married Edmond Kelly (from Tulla - his parents being Patrick Kelly and Mary Sheen (?)) on the 6th October 1862 at Martin Dillon's house in Market Street, Ennis. (Perhaps Margaret was a servant of Martin Dillon?). Margaret gave birth to a daughter Ann prior to Margaret and Edmond departing Ireland. On 17th September 1863 they applied for passage to Australia. Their sponsor was Mary Quinn (presumably Margaret's sister) who was already living (with a Mr G Young) in Sydney. Margaret and Edmond arrived in Sydney Australia on the 30th April 1864 on board the Queen of the East. Edmond is noted as a farm labourer and able to read. Margaret could neither read nor write.
I have been unable to find any information on the actual birth date/place in Ireland of either Margaret or Mary(or Edmond) nor any information about their parents Peter and Joanna (who were both deceased on Margaret's arrival in Sydney). Nor can I find any trace of Mary Quinn; leaving Ireland, being sponsored to Australia, arriving in Australia, nor any marriage records in Australia.

Many thanks, Col. I have looked at the nli RC records and didn't find anything. I just thought perhaps you had access to something else. I shall try to pursue the Peter Quinn/Joanna Kelly lead you have kindly provided.
