I am interested in any information regarding my gg grandparents, Jeremiah(Darby) Fitzpatrick born c. 1808 and Catherine(Kate) Dillon born c. 1815 and their four children, Bridget 1841, Patrick 1843, Austin 1846 and Mary(my g grandmother), 1848.  I have found the baptisms of the three younger children in the records for the  RC parish  in Kilfenora . The family emigrated to Australia on the Tasmania  arriving in Portland Victoria on November 23rd 1851. Patrick was not listed on the shipping list and there are no records of him being in Australia so I assume he died in Ireland. The couple had six more children, all born in Victoria.

Darby's parents were John and Bridget possible Shelley. Kate's parents were Phillip and Ann Camel. Kate's place of birth is recorded as Lisdoovarna on her death certificate.

The name of the children's good parents are Michael Kearney, Johanna Cahir, Owen Murray?, Mary Doherty, Thomas Holley? and Nancy Dillon.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched for the marriage record and the baptismal record for Bridget. Below is the link to the parish register for Kilfenora and the register for Lisdoonvarna. Baptismal records for Kilfenora start in 1835 but marriage records do not start until 1842. I would look for Bridget's record on the register. Lisdoonvarna records do not start until 1854.

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I am very happy to have been able to make this connection. I have always known that my Fitzpatrick ancestors were from this area of Clare but have never had any documentary proof. Many years ago I visited Kilfenora and have photos I took. Hopefully I will visit again and this time I will know I am "walking in the footsteps" of my ancestors.

    Thanking you
