Patrick McKeogh/McKeough (who married Ellen McCormick) had 4 children Mary 1829-1888, Daniel 1831-1886, Thomas 1833-1900 and Bridget 1842-1912.  The four children all emigrated to Victoria Australia. We are looking for Patrick's death after the death of his youngest child in 1842 and sometime before 1881 as his wife had emigrated to Victoria and died there in 1881.

  • Dear Urnert:  Thank you for your post to the IrelandXO message board. I am one of the local volunteers in Clare and you might consider viewing the graveyards in the Killaloe area that have been transcribed.

Here is the link for St. Flannan's graveyard in Killaloe and you will note that there are 30 references to McKeoghs.

    https://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/don_tran/graves/st_flannans_graveyard_killaloe_transcriptions.htm

There are other graveyards in Killaloe that have not been transcribed, but are not online.  If you wish, I can put you in contact with a local historian who may have further information.  The McKeogh surname was local, and there was at least 1 business associated with that family in the parish.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me directly via email at:  tulla@irelandxo.com

    All the best,

  • Urnert,

Subscription Site  www.rootsireland.ie has a record of the death of  Patrick McKeogh on August 18th 1871. He is recorded as Status - 92, which may indicate his age. Address - Fahy Bridgetown - in the Civil Parish of Bridgetown.

I have checked with the Civil Registration in Ennis. The original records for 1871 and 1872 did not show any record for this man. Griffith's Valuation c1855 has a Fahy Beg, Fahy More North and Fahy More South in the Civil Parish of O'Briensbridge.

Griffith's Valuation for c1855 has a record of a Patrick Keough and Patrick McKeogh in O'Briensbridge. There is also a Patrick McKeogh (Little) in O'Briensbridge Town.

You will find the Griffith's records in the County Clare Library - Clarelibrary.ie - Genealogy

  • Urnert,

Griffith's Valuation Record for O'Briensbridge attached where there is Patrick Keough at No. 20 and at No. 32 he is recorded as McKeough.

Patrick McKeogh and Patrick McKeogh (Little) are recorded in the Town.

Have you checked with all your relatives who may have information?

    Regards,

    McCoy
