I am looking for any information on this family:

John Egan (?-?) married Johanna/Joan Markham (1814-1866 Clare) D/o Patrick Markham had sons:

1. John Egan (1836 Kilrush-1903 Clare) married Anne Kelly They had children John Patrick, Margaret, Thomas, Elizabeth and Helen in Kilrush.

2. Michael Egan (abt 1840 Clare- abt 1895 NJ, USA) married Maria McMahon (1848 Kilrush- ?, NJ, USA) D/o Joseph McMahon and Susan Hastings. They had children Bridget "Delia", Mary Ann, John Patrick, Ellen, Catherine, Thomas, Martin Peter and Nora in Kilrush AND Peter Robert & Joseph in NJ, USA

I am hoping to find out more about the father John and if John had more children besides John and Michael.

Thank You!

Rene

  • Yes there was more children in the family. The Kilrush Parish Registers have been transcribed and are available on the Clare Library website, here's the link to the transcriptions http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/don_tran/bmd/baptism…;

    Search by fathers surname both Eagan & Egan,

  • You should join IGP's County Clare Ireland Genealogy Group on facebook where you will get lots of help researching your Co. Clare ancestors https://www.facebook.com/groups/countyclare/  Also google Kilrush & District Historical Society.. Some of your family are buried in the Church of Ireland graveyard in Kilrush. There are both Catholics & Protestants buried in this graveyard. There has been an ongoing restoration project going on by the Kilrush & District Historical Society in this graveyard with a number of photo's of the headstones etc. Here is a transcription of your headstone from the Clare Library website.
