Hello,

I am looking for any church/civil information/records about my great grandmother and her family.  I reached out to St Senan's a few weeks ago but have not received a response.

  • Mother:  Mary Scanlon, born about 1831, died 1888 in Chicago, Illinois, USA; her death notice stated that she was a native of Kilrush, County Clare.
  • Father:  Daniel Behan, born about 1828, died 1904 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, occupation mariner or sailor.
  • They may have married as early as 1850.
  • Sister:  Mary Behan, born about 1860.
  • Gr-Grandmother:  Ann E Behan, born June 1863 in Clare, died 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
  • Sister: Margaret Behan, born 22-May-1864 in Clare, died 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
  • Sister:  Bridget Behan, born 16-Nov-1865 in Kilrush, to Dan Behen and Mary Scanlon on Pound Street, Bridget Shea informant from Henry Street, died 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.  [Kilrush Birth Registrations from Family Search, Salt Lake City, Utah]
  • Margaret, Ann, Bridget arrived in New York from Liverpool & Queenstown on 11-Sep-1871.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Daniel Behan married Mary Scanlan in Kilrush parish on 24 Nov 1851 (p.237).

They had four children baptised in Kilrush parish:

    Margt 22 May 1855 (p.324)

    Mary 1 Jan 1858 (p.358)

    Anne 7 Jun 1860 (p.383)

There is an LDS film of the original registers which will give you more details.

  • Moyarta Clare,

WOW.  Thank you so much for this information on my great grandmother Anne and her family.

Where did you find it?  I'm guessing there are at least two books based on the page numbers you shared.  I will look for the LDS films.
