Hi,

I am looking for any information on the Hannon family who lived in Sally Bank. One Joseph Hannon used to hurl for Truagh and played trad fiddle. He died in Bunratty in the 1970's and was an only son.

His mothers name was Mary Broden but we do not know where she came from. Some of the Brodens emigrated to Canada and had links to a McGrath family from Sligo. It is remembered that he said that his five uncles emigrated to Canada but we do not know if they were Hannon's or Mc Graths.

My sister who lives in US and I would like to visit the relevant graveyard and old homestead of the family this coming Summer as part of The Gathering.  Any information on the old burial sites of the family if know, would be most appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Maria Hannon.

  • Hello Maria

The buriel ground is probably Doonass Graveyard If he was Sallybank. But if he died in Bunratty he may be buried there, not too far away. Might this be one of your Hannon?
