Looking to further the family line beyond John Petty and Mary Kilmartin. Here's what I know:

7) Mary Petty, b. @1866, Knockacarn, Clare. Married ______Walsh.

There was a head of household in 1855 in Knockacarn named Kilmartin, who was likely a relative of Mary Kilmartin:

John Petty - Knockacarn - Civil parish of Killilagh - Lisdoonvarna.
From local records it would appear that John Petty was engaged as a house builder, based on records from Ennistimon Workhouse.
He was a yearly tenant in Knockacarn where he had a house and land. There is a record of a John Petty as a tenant in the townland of Knockaskeheen who was renting nine acres of land, but no house on the land. Possibly the same person?.
While baptism records are available on Subscription site www.findmypast.ie for most of the persons you have listed, no record for a marriage has been found. It is possible that Mary Kilmartin was from Knockacarn and he rented land there. There is a Michael Petty recorded in Miltown Malbay. Most are recorded in the area of Ennis.

Thank you for your assistance. In searching FindMyPast, I discovered there is the John Petty m. Mary Kilmartin from the Ennistymon, Doolin and Knockacarn area who is a farmer; and there is a John Petty Civil Engineer from Ennis. I do not yet know if they are related, but I now know they are not the same. The house builder was John Petty C.E., as his name appears on several land advertisements.
