I believe that Patrick Kierce was baptised at Corofin on 19/3/1829. His father was Martin John (or John Martin) Kierce, farmer. His mother was Mary Leydon. Martin John (or John Martin) was born c 1800 in county Clare. His father was also named Patrick. Mary Leydon was born in Dysart Co Clare. Mary Leydon is believed to have died between 1829 and 17th January 1832 when Martin John married Margaret Glynn.

Patrick was married in 1855 in Gort Co, Galway to Bridget Morrissey. Bridget's parents were Michael Morrisey and Ellen Kenny.

Patrick and Bridget emigrated to Australia in 1856. They sailed on the Fitzjames from Southampton and arrived in Adelaide Australia on 31st Dec 1855.

Would like to find any information about the family and make contact with any distant relatives.

  • Hi Faye,

Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.

In the meantime have you been in contact with Clare County Library?s Local Studies Department? They have a great county collection and may be able to advise you on what resources are available:

    http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/library/local-studies/locstudi1.htm

Also check their genealogy page as they have a large collection available online. You should check the ?Donated Material? section to the right hand side of the page as there are some church records etc available there:
