Hi I am trying to confirm that I have the correct Great Grandfather from Aghabulloge John O'Callaghan born 1837 or there about.I have found a record of one whoose mother was Mary Browne, however if he is mine I don't know.

There is mention in my family tree of Dripsey and Blarney, hover I am not sure where my great grandfather came from.

Great grandfather John O'Callaghan b. 1837 Aghabulloge,  mother Mary Browne (might be him?) married Ellen Field in Blarney.

Grandfather John O'Callaghan b 1878 Blarney mother Ellen Field, married Bridget Horgan, correct.

Father John O'Callaghan b. 1912 Blarney mother Bridget Horgan correct.

My Great grandfathers daughter Julia was born in Dripsey in 1872 if this helps.

Any information would be greatley appreciated as I don't live in Ireland and it is harder for me to access information.

Thank you for reading this.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Roots Ireland shows three John Callaghan baptismal records in the Aghabulloge/Coachford records around 1837. Here is a link to the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0002   In addition to the 1837 record you mentioned there are also records in 1836 and 1838.

  • Thank you Roger for replying. So I now have three possible great grandfathers called John O'Callaghan, born in either 1836,1837 or 1838 in the same region. I don't know what more I can do to narrow it down. I have checked the witnesses

names on all of his childrens batisms in case a parent reappears, no luck. I do not know exactly when he died only that is was after 1911 because he was on the 1911 Census in Blarney. Have you a clue where I should look now please?
