~My family left Caragh, Glen (Curragh, Glenbradagh) Aghada in 1825 with the Peter Robinson settlers to Upper Canada, Peterbourgh, Ontario. They where a family of ten Mother (Widow Walsh) Mary Dunn , Father Michael Walsh who died at this time.
Don’t know where or how,
They came to Canada with John b.1798, Margaret b.1802, Mary b.1804 and Edmond b. 1809 who may be a Foley. John’s wife or future wife Johanna Foley b.1807
They left behind five Catherine b.1796, Anastatia b. 1799, another John b. 1807, Patrick b.1809 and Ellen b. 1812
This information was found on

And with the help of Brendan Keys from Duplin

I engaged Paul from Cork to do further research on the Walsh’s in Ireland
In my follow up message I failed to leave a link to the iformation I needed from UCC Library

Glad we connected. As we know know, Michael was also my 3rd GG. Here is a link to my research. There are a couple of minor errors further along the tree.

I joined this parish today and saw your post regarding the Walsh family and a Johanna Foley. I have a Johanna Foley who is my 2x great grandmother that I have not been able to locate any info on. My Johanna Foley would have been born abt 1816. She married a Patrick Keating around 1838 and had the following children: Michael b. 1839. There is then a gap of 5 years before their next child, Catherine in 1844, Mary 1846, Bridget 1848 [my gr grandmother] and another Catherine 1850. Bridget married a Timothy Walsh in 1868 and their first child, Margaret, was baptized in Aghada. That info from the family bible. Timothy Walsh was the son of Richard Walsh and Margaret Hurley. Both Timothy & Bridget were National School Teachers and taught in the Ballycrooneen School District.
Do you have a Richard Walsh in your tree that I estimate would have been born around 1810-1815?
I have a copy of the baptismal record for Bridget Keating which states her father was Patrick Keating and her mother Johanna Foley. They were living on Murry/Murray Street in Youghal. What info do you have on the Foley family? I have not been able to locate another Foley researcher and very excited to see the name 'Johanna Foley' hoping there is a connection. Thank you.

~I’m sorry
I only have the one Foley and she was married to John Walsh From Aghada and came to upper Canada in 1825 on the ship Brunswick part of the Peter Robinsons settlers.
Good Luck in your search -
Hi - I believe I'm a descendant of Anastasia Walsh, married Patrick Sullivan, their daughter Anastasia Sullivan married John Fitzgerald in Aghada in 1853, before migrating to Australia in 1855. They had 10 children, 1 in Aghada (Ellen) and 9 in Australia.
Would love to hear more about our Canadian relatives and I can certainly share more on the Australian side.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Best regards

Hi Stephen,
I just read your message.
I am an Aussie living in Dunmore East, Co Waterford in Ireland since 2010 with my irish wife.
My great great grand father is John 'Blackjack' Fitzgerald he is from Rostellan, Co Cork not far from Aghada but he was born in 1816 and immergrated to Sydney in 1838 with his new wife Mary Doyle on board the ship 'The Magistrate' John had a sister Ellen and a brother Micheal who both went to America near Boston? and i cant think without looking at the notes but another sister I think Mary who went to Canada.
John and Mary had a daughter Ellen in or around Richmond in Sydney.
John was initially involved with horse breeding out the back of Sydney near where Campbeltown is now. He then got a bullock team and headed to Orange when the railway was being constructed and lived in that area until his death in 1899 i think.
His parents were Micheal Fitzgerald and Nora Barry and they were born late 1700s.. so your John Fitzgerald may be a relative of my ancestors there as they were all small farmers leasing land there from Rostella House.
Aghada is only 1 1/2 hrs from where i live and i have been down there a few times since arriving here.
I have a page on My heritage with all this.
My email is brianpgordon@hotmail.com
Kind regards
