My great-great grandfather, Michael O'Connor, died in January, 1903 in Baltimore, MD USA. His obituary reported that he was born in Ballynookery in November, 1843 and immigrated to the United States when he was 14 years old (1857-1858). I am hoping to find information about Ballynookery. As well as find some of my family records. I have belonged to Ancestry.com for many years, but, have been unable to get any connection to Ireland. Thanks you very much for your help.

Hello Kathleen,
I went to www.rootsireland.ie to search for MIchael O Connor. As you may appreciate there are hundreds of Michaelk O ~Connors in the country, so it's always better if you have aparents name.
However since you have a townsland Ballynookery it has helped . Ballynookery is a townsland in the parish of Aghada in Co. Cork. I searched for michael in the Mallow site and found two records for a michael Connors. One born in 1843 and the other born in 1839.
this site is free to join and search but you have to pay to open a record approx €5. However they have a promotion on at the moment of 40%off until October 13th.
Hope this helps you on your way,

Kathleen:
I looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Aghada parish. There were no O'Connors listed but there was a Michael Connors listed in Ballynookery. Possibly he was the father of Michael O'Connor. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/aghada.htm
