I was very excited to come across my great-great grandparents marriage information on rootsireland.ie yesterday. It is the first time I was able to pinpoint a location other than County Cork/County Kerry.
I am researching Redmond Geary who married Mary Moore on 23 Sep 1811. Redmond was from Aghady while Mary's address was not recorded. In searching the cemetery on historicgraves, I did find a headstone in the Corkbeg, Whitegate cemetery for a Redmond Geary but he died in 1808 at the age of 65. I also found the headstone for a Martin Geary, erected by his son Redmond after Martin's death in 1797 at the age of 50. Redmond erected the stone "in memory of his father and mother, Timothy and Elen Geary".
While neither of these Redmonds appear to be mine, just knowing that 'my' Redmond was from Aghady per the marriage information was very exciting.
I found no "Moore" names in the cemetery.
If anyone has any information about my Redmond Geary and Mary Moore, I would greatly appreciate it. Redmond and Mary had at least one child, James MIchael Geary (born about 1820, died in 1900 in Minneapolis, MN, USA. James married Bridget Neville (reportedly from Cork or Limerick) and they had 6 children, all born in Ottawa.
Thanks for any help provided!

Hello Kathleen www.nationalarchives.ie you can look at Tithe Applotment records & Griffiths Valuation. Tithe have several records for Gearys some in parish of Aghade, Redmond in Corkbeg. Griffiths has a Redmond Geary in townland of Glanagow Parish Corkbeg. In 1901 ireland census under DED Corkbeg there are several Geary names recorded maybe descendants of your family. Regards Frances

Hi Kathleen
I have a redmond geary in my family born 1876, his parents were robert and mary and he has a sister margaret is who is my grandmother. I think this date is correct but records were a bit hit and miss. If you think this might be part of your family i have some other info. Good luck with your search.

Hi Den,
My Redmond was married in 1811 so definitely not the same person. I suppose he could be a grandson but I've just been following my branch that emigrated to Ottawa, Canada. I'll let you know if I find a connections.
Thanks!
