I have a Church Baptism Record:

Address Glin
Parish Aghada
Co.Cork
Den. Roman Catholic
Father James Coghlan
Mother Mary Carroll
Sponsor 1 Garret Meade

I am trying to determine the church associated with this baptism and any other information available. I believe they may be the parents Sally Coglan (my gggg grandmother).
Baptised Aug.1 1812
Parish Rahan
County Offaly
Father Daniel Couglan
Mother C Digan
I am visiting next year and want to visit the churches and areas if I can connect the dots. Thanks so much Ireland for reaching out.
Sincerely,

Samantha:
The church would be St. Erasmus (see below). I assume you know that Co. Cork and Co. Offaly are a good distance apart.

Thank you for your prompt reply, Roger. I am a little puzzled by the distances and was wondering how much people travelled at that time, especially since I am sure my family were peasants.
Perhpas that is not the correct Daniel.

Samantha:
Aghada is in southeast Cork. In the early 19th century, families did not move too far. I think it is unlikely that the two records relate to the same Daniel.

Yes we have narrowed our serach to Eglish/Drumcullen. We would like to see the records of Sally Coughlan and John Carroll marriage at Eglish (RC) to see if we can see the parents. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,
if you want quick online access to the records, then http://offaly.rootsireland.ie/ is the way to go.
I have some local volunteers in Drumcullen and will ask them if they can get access to the parish records.
Kind regards

There is no townland Glin in Aghada and the First 2 priests are R I P and the third is no longer here
There is no way anyone could have travelled from Offaly to Aghada
