My gr/grandparents Patrick Scannell c1841and Mary Cronin c1843 were married at St,Patrick,s Cathedral Church,Skibbereen on the 13th of Feb 1859.Family folklore suggests that one or both of them were from the Parish of Aughadown. However I have never been able to establish this and would be most grateful for any help.
Graham
I now know that according to Church records only 1 Patrick Scannell was registered for Cork in the 1940s, which must be my gr/grandfather listed above. His parents are listed as at Baptism at St,Peter and Paul Cork and Ross as William Scannell and Honora Lane. Also siblings Eliza Scannell 1830- Mary Ann Scannell 1834- William Scannell 1836 - and William Scannell 1842. On this evidence I must assume that the parents William Scannell and Honora Lane are in fact my Gr/Gr/Grandparents.
If anyone reading this can Identify with the above details then please make contact.

Graham:
You can go to www.irishgenealogy.ie and search the records for Aughadown RC parish. There are far more Cronin records and only a few Scannell records in that parish. Could not locate a baptismal record for a Mary Cronin in 1843 but did see a May Cronin in 1839.
On the left hand column you will see Cork and Ross diocese. Hit that tab and the parishes in the diocese should appear. Then select Aughadown.
I did locate the 1859 marriage record but as you indicated, there are no clues about where they came from.
