I am looking for any information on the Family of Daniel and Mary(Barry) Mahoney who immigrated to the US (Boston) from Newmarket with their three small children (Catherine, Thomas , and William) in the very early 1860's. I believe that Mary was born about 1824 and Daniel was a few years younger. Many thanks

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked on Roots Ireland and located the baptismal record transcriptions for Thomas in 1857 and Catherine in 1859. I could not locate the record for William. Here is the link to the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0086 Maybe you can find the record for William. I also was not able to locate the marriage record.

Roger, Thank you very much for your help. I am pretty sure that this is the family I am looking for as Catherine would be my wife's gr. gr. grandmother. The discrepancy that pops up is that in the 1880 and 1900 US census reports, her birthdate is indicated to be about 1861/1862 and her tombstone says 1864, I know that ages have ben fudged or are imprecise many times, but would this be a common discrepancy? Thomas' birthday was right on, and the brother William seems to have been born about 1863 in Ireland with another brother, Daniel, born in the US about 1866. Catherine's year of immigration is indicated on one census to be 1868. ???Jim Bither

Jim:
Yes, age discrepancies were common. Many emigrants made themselves younger or older for whatever reasons. The year of emigration on census records was also inexact particular if the person came over when they were young.

I gathered that to be true. the youngest son , Daniel is actually listed as 18 years old in 1880 , but that he was born in Massachuestts and his older siblings were born in Ireland. Thanks.
