Hi
In 1958, when I was 10, I spent the summer holidays at Aglish House/Farm. I came over from England with the Wallace family (Jim and Mary Wallace and their children Edward and Nanette). Us children were left there for about 6 idyllic weeks helping on the farm. I have recently come across some old photos from that time and would be interested to know if the house still exists and who lives there now. There was some family connection between the Wallace family and the owners at the time but I cannot remember their names.

Roger, I am not trying to contact anyone. Out of curiosity I just wanted to know if the place still existed.

Don't know if someone answered you or not.
are you talking about Aglish House in Farran/Coachford, Co.Cork, or talking about Waterford?
if it's Waterford I can't help you if Cork, I certainly can

Thank you for your reply. I have not had any other replies but I found this which I think is the place I was talking about

Any recent photos would be interesting.

Yes, that is the old gates that were down on the reservoir side. It wasn't the entrance that the family used.
I don't have any recent photos as the farm was sold due to a death/estate sale almost 30 years ago.
However, based on the dates it would have been my family (father/aunts/uncles/grandparents/grand uncle) you would have stayed with.

That's very interesting, thank you. Since my original posting, I have found some more photos amongst my late father's possessions - one of the house itself and another of the entrance gates that I remember. There are also some of some sort of party which looks as though it included local children and some adults which you may be able to identify as your relatives. There is also a lady sitting on the seat by the front door who was also staying and I believe was a relative of the owners. If you would be interested to see these, I would be happy to email them to you. You can contact me on oatlands.lodge@virgin.net.
Kind regards
Val

Hope you liked the photos I emailed you, Terry. It would be interesting to hear if you recognised any of your family.
Best wishes
