My ancestors are as follows;

Margaret Theresa Ahern, b. 1832-1836 County Cork  (My great great Grandmother)

Catherine Ahern, b 1836-1838 County Cork  (Her Sister)

John Ahern - County Cork (Their father)

Margaret and Catherine Ahern arrived at Port Adelaide in Australia on the 8th of January 1855 on the ship Coromandel, which left South Hampton 20th September 1854.

Only one Parish in the Griffiths Valuation of Ireland had all 3 names listed in the one parish so I am hoping I have picked the right parish to ask if anyone knows of this Ahern family.

    The Griffiths Valuation only showed the head of households who leased or owned land. Margaret and Catherine would not have been listed so I would not focus solely on Ardagh parish.

    Unfortunately, Ahern/Aherne is a very common name in Co. Cork.

    You may want to look at www.irishgenealogy.ie  which has a good number of Co. Cork baptismal and marriage records. There are Margaret and Catherine baptisms in the 1830s but without the mothers name, it will be difficult to know if you have the correct record. Again, not all baptisms are included on that site.
