It appears the name is 'Reiling' but I have seen other versions. I came across this record which is from the Whitehaven, Cumberland area although a little later, but as the name is unusual perhaps there is a connection. I do not have access to Ancestry but they do seem to have records for this family.

Thank you Eileen you are correct and I have all the details relating to the Reiling family in Whitehaven-my problem is trying to find the correct Irish links-my great grandmother was from this family and she used to tell me about the Cork family association hence my attempts to learn more.
Many thanks for your time

Again my grateful thanks Eileen-my greatgrandmother's name was Margaret Reeling born in Washington England-she was the grandaughter of Alexander Reiling born in Ireland ?1801 according to my great grandmother the family came from County Cork-the anglicised spelling of this family is variable-Reiling/Reeling/Realing/Railing dependent on the English interpretation of the Cork accent-no offence intended-I am a Geordie by birth so I am aware of this variation as it has effected my own accent and interpretation now that I live in the south east of England!!
Yesterday I found the following names in the Irish tithe records 1824-Christopher Realing Fermoy Cork-Carrignagrohera ; Michael Realing East Muskerry Cork-Rathard and also Gortacurreg Cork-Condons and Clangibbon. Along with William Realing Ballyhooly South Cork and a William ?Railing Barrow Fermoy. It looks like the Realing family name was popular in this part of County Cork but ???connection with Alexander Reiling is what I am trying to find. Incidentally I believe a John Reiling was the father of Alexander and William Reiling/Realing was his uncle.
Thank you again for your invaluable and quick response.

I believe this record is relevant, the spelling of the name is pecular but close, ( Ruling) it appears Alexander's wife was named Bridget
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGKP-JDB
The children of this marriage were
Patrick b 1830
Margaret b 1833
Alexander b 1836
William b 1842
Sarah b 1847

Marriage for a Margaret Reiling 1860 in Whitehaven possible spouse John Graham or Joseph Walker , are any of these names in your family?

Thank you Eileen-yes the Ruling reference you mention corresponds exactly with the Reiling family and all the members you have listed-so another variation of the name but the same family I have as ancestors-Alexander's wife Bridget 's maiden name was Ledlow or Ludlow and she was born in Ratoath County Meath. The Margaret Reiling you mention regarding 1860 marriage is not in my family tree.
As ever my grateful thanks
