Maiden or Spinster

Strrictly speaking a young unmarried woman. Having said that, you do see the term used in respect of older unmarried women eg maiden aunts. Unclaimed treasures as they are sometimes called.

Generally speaking, they didn't bother putting anything at all for a woman's occupation, as the majority didn't have one, and it was assumed she wouldn't have one. Perhaps the bride suggested it to the Registrar?
