Hello,

My 4x great grandfather was Michael Farrell. He was apparently born in Bandon, Cork in 1805. He emigrated to Sydney, NSW, Australia as a free settler on the ship Mariner in 1827 as a carpenter & joiner. I don't know his parents names, but they were apparently alive at the time of his emigration according to court records (yes he had a colourful life being convicted for receiving and selling stolen property - a murder took place when the items were stolen). He married Catherine Ahern in Sydney in 1833.

I haven't been able to discover anything else about his life in Ireland before emigrating.

    Welcome to ireland Reaching Out!

Bandon RC records start in 1794 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0017  and are included on www.irishgenealogy.ie I did a search and there were no Michael Farrell baptismal records listed for Bandon. The only record in 1805 was in Kinsale.
