I have a New Zealand friend who is 78, whose father was Irish. She has never known the Irish side of her family and would love to connect with them.
With amazing help from two people on this website the family can be traced to Bandon, Co. Cork where the husband Thomas Quinn was the Head Constable in 1911. There were 7 children, one of which, Francis Bernard (1898), was my friend's father. The siblings names' and approximate birth dates were Bridget (1892), Mary Josephine (1894), Michael Joseph (1897), Thomas Joseph (1900), Margaret (can't read middle name on census form) (1903), and George Cyril (1908).
Francis was a surgeon in the Royal Navy and studied in Cork. I have traced a death certificate that I think is his which says he died there as well. I think he was in the care of his sisters at that time.
I am hoping to find a living relative for my New Zealand friend to contact and I wonder if anyone in Bandon Parish or Ireland can help.
Thank you.
Becky

Dear Becky,
As you are only looking for living relatives may I suggest to have a look at the following
Post a message on our Bandon parish board on this site , there are local people involved in this project http://www.irelandxo.com/group/bandon-cork who might be able to help locate the people you are looking for.
And there is a great Facebook page from the Cork Genealogical Society where many connections are made
You find them here : https://www.facebook.com/groups/corkgenealogicalsociety/
Hope this helps,
Annemarie
