I am looking for any information about my ancestor Jeremiah Lynch, born about 1845, in Coolea/Balleyvourney, and his wife, Mary Kelleher, born about 1848, also in Coolea/Ballyvourney.  These are my great great grandparents.

It is my understanding that Jeremiah Lynch and Mary Kelleher were married on March 5, 1867 in Killarney, Kerry.  Their marriage produced eight children: Mary Lynch (b. 2/2/1868), Julia Alice Lee Lynch (b. 6/1870), Hanora Lynch (b. 4/19/1871), Cornelius Lynch (b. 3/24/1873), Daniel Lynch (b. 6/21/1874), Margaret Theresa Lynch (b. 10/1875), Catherine C. Lynch (b. about 1876), and Johanna P.  Lynch (b. 4/20/1877).  Mary Kelleher's second marriage to Patrick Lynch produced Ellen Lynch (b. 3/28/1884).

Margaret Theresa Lynch, my great grandmother, immigrated to the US in 1897.  

I am curious if anyone has any information about my ancestors and the their lives in Ireland and whether any relatives still possibly reside in the area.  I am traveling to Ireland next month to visit my daughter at University College Cork and would love to pass through the area to see the land where my relatives came from.

  • Hi Dawn, my mothers family are Lynches and we descend from a Cornelius Lynch who came to US around 1871. I visited Ballyvourney with my kids a couple years ago. St Gobhnait (sic?) is the cemetery where you will find a ton of Lynches. I took a TON of photos of the Lynch graves and the little chapel. More than happy to share. We are probably related.
