Hello,

I am researching my grandmother's family. Maiden name Leehan. Or maybe Lehan. Or Leehane. I've been researching on ancestry.com and found a trail that may have lead to Bandon, Cork. Timothy Leehan was her grandfather. He was born in Ireland on or around September 10th 1822. I *think* his father's name was Edward Leehan, born in 1798. Timothy married a woman named Ellen Conley born around 1831. I think he had a brother named Jerimiah 'Jerry' Leehan. Also both Jerry and Timothy had daughters named Julia, so I am wondering if their mother may have been Julia. Of course last names may have been mispelled, and information may be not correct, but I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I don?t know if you have checked rootsireland.ie where some of the Cork parish records can be located. There is an 1841 record of the marriage of a Timothy Leehan to a wife first name Ellen. As this is a subscription site, I am limited in what I can see. There doesn?t however seem to be a specific Leehan-Conley marriage. You could also check www.irishgenealogy.ie where other Cork parish records can be searched for free.

There are also 4 entries listed for Leehane on Griffith?s Valuation (1847-1864) but it would be difficult to say which, if any are your ancestor:

It may be the case that Timothy and family were born in a parish and at a time that predates the parish records.

Have you tried searching Ancestry.com for any mention of your ancestor?s name in member family trees or messages?

    Best wishes
