His name is Benjamin Ford he states on his Marr. Cert. he was born

I think there are other children maybe Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Robert, Henry, Stephen?

Immigration Record ; Benjamin Ford 27 yrs? sailed from Liverpool aboard the S.S.

Great Britian on the 24/07/1865 arrived in Australia 21/09/1865 as an unassited

Immigrant occ. English labourer?

Hoping you can point me in the right direction.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Bandon Town is in the civil parishes of Ballymodan and Kilbrogan. Records for the corresponding RC parishes of Bandon and Kilbrittan begin in 1794. I had a quick look on rootsireland.ie but there is no baptism record for a Benjamin Ford in Cork (or elsewhere). If the staff at the heritage centre could not locate it may be that the record doesn?t exist or that he was baptised elsewhere. There is another site that holds Cork church records and access is free: www.irishgenealogy.ie

I provide a link below to other resources in Bandon that might be of use:

    http://www.bandon-genealogy.com/

There is also a pretty old thread on RootsWeb about the Ford surname:

    http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/GENIRE/1998-04/0892078386

You may need to try to find out if there were any siblings who stayed in Ireland and search the records for them as a means of finding out more about the family.

    Best wishes
